Uzbekneftegaz and World Bank Discuss Methane Emissions Reduction
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives of Uzbekneftegaz JSC and the World Bank have held talks to discuss cooperation under the Global Flaring and Methane Reduction (GFMR) partnership, which aims to reduce associated gas flaring and methane emissions.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for joint projects focused on reducing associated petroleum gas flaring, cutting methane emissions, introducing modern technologies into production processes, and improving the environmental sustainability of the oil and gas sector.
The participants also exchanged views on utilizing international experience and innovative solutions, increasing energy efficiency, and implementing projects that contribute to reducing the carbon footprint.
According to Uzbekneftegaz, cooperation with the World Bank is a key element of the company's ongoing efforts to modernize its production processes in line with modern environmental standards. The company emphasized that collaboration with the international financial institution is expected to help lower methane emissions and accelerate its green transformation initiatives.
