Uzbekistan, BYD Discuss Electric Vehicle Expansion
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, held a meeting with BYD Managing Director for Central Asia and the Caucasus, Cao Shuang, to discuss the further development of an electric vehicle manufacturing project in the republic.
The talks focused primarily on the current results of the project, as well as plans to expand manufacturing capacities, increase the level of localization, and develop the plant's export potential.
The parties also reviewed prospects for developing manufacturing infrastructure, increasing export deliveries, and establishing a network of fast-charging stations for electric vehicles in Uzbekistan.
Following the meeting, the participants confirmed their interest in further strengthening long-term cooperation and successfully implementing the BYD project in Uzbekistan.
BYD is one of the world's largest manufacturers of electric vehicles and new energy vehicles. Production of cars under this brand began in Jizzakh region in June 2024.
