Uzbekistan to simplify procedures for uncontested cases
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis has approved in the first reading a draft law aimed at improving procedures for handling uncontested cases and optimizing judicial and notarial mechanisms.
The document is designed to protect the interests of citizens and businesses while simplifying the process for resolving uncontested claims.
Under the initiative, the list of case categories subject to consideration under court order procedures, as предусмотрено by the Civil Procedure Code and the Economic Procedure Code, will be revised.
According to the draft law, claims for the recovery of debts related to rent, mandatory contributions and payments by apartment owners in multi-unit buildings, as well as коммунальных and communication services, will be handled by courts if the amount exceeds 1,000 base calculation units. Claims below this threshold are expected to be transferred to notaries for consideration as uncontested cases.
A separate set of amendments concerns the Law “On State Duty.” The proposal предусматривает aligning fees for notarial enforcement endorsements with the actual costs of providing these services.
During parliamentary discussions, it was noted that the proposed measures aim to improve the efficiency of the judicial system, reduce the time required to process uncontested claims, and expand access to notarial services. Lawmakers also raised a number of questions regarding the practical implementation of the initiative.
The authors of the draft law said that proposals voiced during the discussion will be further refined ahead of the second reading.
Following the session, the draft law was approved in the first reading.
