Uzbekistan and South Korea Expand Healthcare Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An Uzbek delegation led by Abdulla Azizov, director of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, held a series of meetings in South Korea with organizations and companies in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and medical technology. The sides discussed technology transfer, localization of production and expanded investment cooperation.
At a meeting with Lee Young-gyu, president of the Korea Medical Devices Association (KMDA), the sides discussed opportunities to transfer medical equipment and technologies to Uzbekistan in diagnostics, rehabilitation and Medical IT.
The parties also discussed involving more than 730 KMDA member companies in manufacturing and investment projects in Uzbekistan.
During talks with executives of major South Korean pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies, the participants considered prospects for developing Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. The areas discussed included attracting Korean brands, localizing production and expanding investment cooperation.
Following the talks, agreements were reached to arrange visits by executives of Korean companies to Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek delegation also held talks with executives and experts from Yonsei University Severance Hospital and Asan Medical Center. The sides discussed the design and management of modern medical centers, the introduction of advanced medical technologies and improving hospital efficiency.
Particular attention was paid to applying South Korean experience in healthcare facility management in Uzbekistan.
The meetings were aimed at expanding practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea in healthcare, pharmaceuticals and medical technologies, as well as developing investment projects and transferring advanced technologies.
