Uzbekistan to launch Besqala Mining Valley zone

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan will establish a special mining zone, Besqala Mining Valley, under a presidential resolution adopted on 17 April 2026.

According to the document, the entire territory of the Republic of Karakalpakstan has been designated as the zone. Within its framework, legal entities will be allowed to engage in crypto-asset mining activities in accordance with established procedures.

Residents of the zone will be able to use electricity from the Unified Power System, as well as alternative energy sources, including renewable energy and hydrogen power plants.

Crypto-assets obtained through mining may be sold via national crypto exchanges and foreign platforms, including on the basis of direct contracts. Their exchange into other liquid digital assets will also be permitted.

A dedicated Directorate of the special mining zone “Besqala Mining Valley” will be established to manage the project. The National Agency for Perspective Projects has been designated as the authorized body responsible for issuing permits for mining activities.

Legal entities seeking to operate within the zone will be required to submit an application to the Directorate in order to obtain resident status and the necessary authorization.

The resolution also предусматривает significant tax incentives: until 1 January 2035, income of residents derived from mining activities will be exempt from taxes and mandatory payments.
