Uzbekistan to export over 15bn cbm of gas to Russia in 2009

Uzbekistan plans to increase gas export by 8 percent to 16.2 billion cubic meters, the first deputy CEO of Uzbekneftegaz, Shavkat Mazhitov, told the Oil&Gas Uzbekistan international exhibition on Wednesday.
He stressed that “15.2 billion cubic meters of gas will be exported northward - to Russia.”
According to the forecast, in 2009 Uzbekneftegaz’s gas output will reach 70 billion cubic meters. Thus, the Central Asian Republic will only yield to Russia among other CIS member-states by gas production volumes.
Taking part in the exhibition are over 150 companies from 30 countries, including Russia, China, Germany, France, the US and Italy.
