Electricity Generation in Uzbekistan Increases by 5.7%
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Total electricity generation in Uzbekistan reached 44,140.8 million kWh in January–June 2026, representing a 5.7% increase compared to 41,747.1 million kWh during the same period last year, according to the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics.
The structure of production underwent a notable shift: output by large enterprises declined by 4.6% to 29,832.8 million kWh compared to 31,282.2 million kWh a year earlier. Conversely, the volume of electricity produced by small business entities rose by 36.8% to 14,308.0 million kWh from 10,464.9 million kWh, reflecting the growing role of small business in the country's energy sector.
Thermal energy production by large enterprises in January–June 2026 decreased by 18.1% to 9,284.7 thousand Gcal, down from 11,338.0 thousand Gcal recorded in the same period last year.
