Uzbekistan Studies Green Hydrogen Technologies in Korea

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Specialists from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy and the National Research Institute of Renewable Energy are participating in an international program titled “Clean Hydrogen for Uzbekistan,” which focuses on studying global experience in hydrogen energy development in the Republic of Korea.

The initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and is aimed at examining both the technological and institutional foundations for building a clean hydrogen market in Uzbekistan. The program covers regulatory frameworks as well as practical solutions for hydrogen production and application.

During the visit, particular attention is being paid to analyzing legislation governing hydrogen energy development, as well as studying technological processes and assessing the potential for their implementation across various industrial sectors.

International practice shows that green hydrogen is produced through electrolysis using energy from renewable sources. During meetings, the Korean side presented its experience in hydrogen production, storage, and integration into energy systems, sharing practical solutions currently applied in the sector.

Hydrogen energy is increasingly viewed as a key tool for transitioning to a low-carbon economy and decarbonizing industrial production. In this context, the development of such technologies contributes to improving the resilience of energy systems and reducing carbon emissions.

It is noted that Uzbekistan’s ongoing renewable energy projects are creating additional conditions for the future introduction of hydrogen technologies.

The program also includes discussions on expanding international cooperation and implementing joint initiatives in the field of clean hydrogen development.
