Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea have agreed to expand scientific and technological cooperation in agriculture, including the introduction of smart agrotechnologies and artificial intelligence-based solutions, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture reported.
The agreements were reached in Seoul at a meeting between a delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture and representatives of the Rural Development Administration of Korea (RDA), held as part of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to the Republic of Korea.
Adapting Korean technologies to Uzbekistan’s conditions
The sides discussed further development of strategic and scientific-technological cooperation, adaptation of advanced agrotechnologies to Uzbekistan’s conditions and their practical implementation.
The participants positively assessed the results of projects implemented in Uzbekistan with Korean participation in rice farming, vegetable farming and livestock production.
Cooperation in AI and smart agriculture
Particular attention was paid to transferring smart agriculture and artificial intelligence solutions to Uzbekistan.
The Korean side proposed expanding the practice of sending Uzbek specialists to Korea to gain knowledge and practical experience. The technologies acquired are also expected to be adapted to local conditions, with relevant knowledge transferred to farmers and developments introduced directly into agricultural practices.
AFACI meeting may be held in Uzbekistan
The meeting also discussed holding the next meeting of the Assembly of the Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative (AFACI) in Uzbekistan.
In addition, the sides considered establishing a joint working group between Uzbekistan and the RDA.
The group is expected to focus on the systematic development of cooperation in Central Asia.
Following the meeting, the sides stressed the importance of further expanding scientific and technological cooperation, adapting advanced Korean experience to Uzbekistan’s conditions and applying it in agricultural practices.
