Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Sulton Tex Group textile factory in the Kashkadarya Free Economic Zone in Karshi.

The US$54 million facility produces and dyes fabrics, with production lines designed to manufacture 20,000 tonnes of output annually.

The project was implemented as part of efforts to promote the socioeconomic development of Kashkadarya Region. The factory has created 840 jobs.

One of the facility’s key features is the use of water- and energy-saving technologies. A total of US$3 million was invested in a closed-loop water system that treats and reuses more than 95% of the water used in production, saving up to 1.1 million cubic metres annually.

A gas generator was installed to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply. Solar panels with a combined capacity of 3.5 MW have been mounted on the building’s roof and walls. These measures are intended to reduce the costs of electricity, hot water and steam, as well as lower production costs.

During the visit, Mirziyoyev reviewed the manufacturing process and an exhibition of the factory’s products.

The president said the resource-saving technologies used at the facility could serve as an example for other textile manufacturers.

Sulton Tex Group plans to continue investing in the region. A US$70 million project is planned for the free economic zone, with 3,570 jobs expected to be created.

The group also intends to invest US$17 million in projects in other districts of the region, providing employment for a further 1,220 people.

During a conversation with factory employee Dilorom Kholiyorova, the president highlighted the role of entrepreneurs in expanding production and creating added value, particularly emphasising the importance of environmentally friendly technologies.
