Uzbekistan, Serbia to Expand Economic Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic took part in a joint business forum attended by more than 200 representatives of the official and business communities of the two countries, as well as executives of major industrial and trading companies.
The Serbian side was represented at the event by companies including Galenika, Abela Pharm, Goša FOM, Yumco, Luss Textile and other businesses.
Speaking at the forum, Mirziyoyev said the recent high-level talks had opened a new stage in relations between the two countries. He described the establishment of a strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Serbia as the key outcome.
A major increase in bilateral trade was identified as one of the priorities. To achieve this, the two sides plan to expand the range of goods supplied to each other and simplify customs procedures. In industrial cooperation, the sides also approved a joint Action Plan for 2026–2028.
The Uzbek president outlined several areas that should form the basis for further development of economic ties. These include establishing joint production of textiles and electrical equipment, as well as automotive and industrial components.
Particular attention will be given to localizing pharmaceutical production and developing deeper processing of fruit and vegetable products. The two countries also intend to develop joint projects in software and artificial intelligence.
Mirziyoyev stressed Uzbekistan’s readiness to create favourable conditions for Serbian companies and investors. The president also said Uzbekistan was ready to provide practical support for the implementation of each joint project.
Following the business forum, the two sides signed a number of bilateral economic agreements and trade contracts.
