Uzbekistan President Visits WWII Veterans in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 8 May visited participants of the Second World War and veterans of the labor front at the Central Military Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Defense in Tashkent. The visit took place as part of events dedicated to the commemorative date. The head of state discussed the veterans’ health conditions and the quality of their medical care.
During the visit, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with WWII veterans Akmal ota Akramov, Vera Zhuravskaya, Khasanboy ota Khalmatov, and Vladimir Alexeykov. The president spoke with each of them at the hospital and inquired about their well-being.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of their life experience for the country. “You are living witnesses of history, a symbol of courage and resilience. Today’s peaceful and free days, and the happy future of generations, are the result of your unparalleled selfless efforts,” he said.
Special attention was given to state support measures during the visit. In accordance with a presidential decree dated April 16, additional forms of social and medical assistance are being provided to war veterans and labor front veterans.
The support system includes regular medical supervision, sanatorium treatment, and preferential programs. Families of servicemen who died in the line of duty during the years of independence are also under state care.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the state continues to expand measures of support for the older generation. During the meeting, the veterans expressed gratitude for the government’s policy of preserving historical memory and its attention to their social conditions.
