Uzbekistan, Pakistan Discuss Regional Partnership Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 29 April, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, held talks with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tashkent, Ahmed Farooq. The discussions focused on the development of the Uzbek–Pakistani strategic partnership.
The sides reviewed the current state and prospects of political dialogue, as well as opportunities to expand trade and economic cooperation. Particular attention was given to strengthening collaboration in transport, logistics, and broader regional connectivity, with an emphasis on deepening practical engagement between the two countries.
A key part of the meeting was dedicated to the Afghan track. The officials exchanged views on enhancing regional security and stability, as well as advancing major infrastructure initiatives, including transport and communications projects such as the Trans-Afghan railway.
At the conclusion of the talks, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation, maintaining regular contacts, and jointly promoting initiatives aimed at sustainable development and strengthening trust in the region.
