Uzbekistan Orders Removal of Illegal Ads at Friendship Palace
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Agency for Cultural Heritage Protection has ordered the removal of advertising banners installed in front of the Palace of Friendship of Peoples in Tashkent following a monitoring inspection conducted on 14 April, according to the agency’s press service.
The authority determined that the banners, primarily promoting concert events, had been placed without the required official permissions.
The Palace of Friendship of Peoples is included in Uzbekistan’s official list of immovable cultural heritage sites and is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture.
Under current legislation, the placement of outdoor advertising on cultural heritage sites is strictly prohibited.
The Administrative Responsibility Code also provides for fines in cases of disrespectful treatment or misuse of protected heritage properties.
Despite these legal provisions, the report noted that advertising structures had been installed in the area for many years.
Following the inspection, responsible parties were issued an official warning, and the agency called on all government bodies and private businesses to comply with legal requirements and ensure the protection of cultural heritage sites.
