Uzbekistan Opens Trading House in Belarusian Capital

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An Uzbekistan trading house has commenced operations in Minsk, with its opening timed to coincide with the official visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus. The press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the development.

The trading house is located at 63V Pobediteley Avenue and covers an area of 261.3 square meters. Electrical products, textiles, homeware, agricultural goods, and other export commodities manufactured in Uzbekistan will be permanently displayed here for supply to the Belarusian market at wholesale prices.

The opening ceremony was attended by Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Davron Vakhabov, and Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mikhail Myatlikov.

According to Davron Vakhabov, the volume of mutual trade between the two countries has already approached US$1 billion. Meanwhile, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Belarus have set a target to increase this figure to US$2 billion.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that the new venue will expand the presence of Uzbek products on the Belarusian market, create additional opportunities for domestic manufacturers, and promote the development of direct ties between entrepreneurs alongside the implementation of joint investment and production projects.

The Government of Belarus emphasized that the trading house is intended to serve as a showcase for Uzbekistan's export potential, while also facilitating business contacts and the launch of joint ventures.

The opening of the trading house marks the next stage of cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two nations.

During a visit by a Belarusian government delegation to Uzbekistan in February, the parties held a business forum that concluded with the signing of contracts and agreements worth nearly US$110 million. The Uzbek cuisine restaurant Tashkent also opened in Minsk at that time.
