Uzbekistan Oil and Gas Production Declines in Five Months
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Natural gas production in Uzbekistan amounted to 15.8 billion cubic meters in January-May 2026, declining from 18.4 billion cubic meters during the same period in 2025 and 18.9 billion cubic meters two years earlier, the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Statistics reported.
According to the agency, oil production during the reporting period stood at 261,900 tonnes, compared to 270,800 tonnes in January-May 2025 and 305,000 tonnes in 2024, continuing a downward trend for the third consecutive year.
Gas condensate production also decreased, falling to 391,700 tonnes from 482,100 tonnes a year earlier and 528,400 tonnes in 2024.
Coal mining in January-May 2026 totaled 1.6 million tonnes, down from 2.5 million tonnes during the same period last year, although the figure stood at a similar level of 1.9 million tonnes two years earlier.
In contrast to the decline in raw material extraction, the production of petroleum products increased. Diesel fuel output rose to 476,400 tonnes, compared to 442,000 tonnes in January-May 2025 and 389,700 tonnes in 2024, demonstrating steady growth over three years.
Motor gasoline production reached 502,200 tonnes, an increase from the 492,400 tonnes recorded a year earlier, but remained below the level of 2024 when 569,700 tonnes were produced.
