Yangi Avlod SEZ Attracts US$130 Million Chinese Investment for UAVs and Semiconductor Chips
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the "Yangi Avlod" Special Economic Zone (SEZ), led by Director General Farrukh Abdusalomov, concluded a working visit to major industrial and technological hubs in the People's Republic of China, specifically the cities of Shenzhen and Dongguan.
The central event of the trip was an Uzbek-Chinese business forum held in Dongguan, which brought together more than 50 leading Chinese manufacturers, tech giants, and investors. The events culminated in a substantial portfolio of firm investment agreements totaling US$130 million.
The signed contracts span several high-tech and knowledge-intensive industries aimed at modernizing Uzbekistan's industrial landscape. Specifically, agreements were finalized with the following organizations:
UMGG: Setting up high-tech manufacturing for premium ceramics derived from precious stones.
JWise Limited: Launching production facilities for high-demand semiconductors and complex electronic components.
Zhongke Honghu: Collaborative development of advanced aviation technologies and localized production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), a project executed with direct support from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
CAS Cloud Computing: Integrating cloud computing infrastructure, comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, and platforms for smart city ecosystems.
Beyond the core agreements, the leadership of Yangi Avlod SEZ held exploratory talks with a pool of potential partners. This group included companies such as Rontex (Smart City solutions), EcoFlow and Topband (modern energy systems), XINREX Energy (industrial energy storage systems), Marco Polo Tiles (porcelain stoneware production), Wist (precision engineering), CATC (children's goods manufacturing), and NOVI (international certification).
The execution of these agreements is expected to significantly boost Uzbekistan's production capacities, generate thousands of skilled jobs, and diversify the country's export potential. In this context, the Yangi Avlod SEZ is systematically positioning itself as a strategic industrial platform capable of facilitating the entry of Uzbek manufactured goods into CIS, European, and Southeast Asian markets.
