Uzbekistan meat imports rise to US$481.7 million

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Imports of meat products to Uzbekistan reached US$481.7 million in January–June 2026, compared to US$420.4 million during the same period in 2025, according to data from the Customs Committee. This represents an increase of 14.6% in value terms.

Beef remains the primary item of meat imports. While its intake in physical terms decreased by 12.7%, falling from 82.4 million to 72.0 million kilograms, procurement expenditures rose from US$333.1 million to US$359.5 million. The average cost per kilogram of imported beef increased from US$4.0 to US$5.0. Beef accounted for 74.6% of all expenditures on meat imports.

The price of lamb rose even more sharply. While the volume of deliveries remained practically unchanged—totaling 13.3 million kilograms compared to 13.7 million kilograms a year earlier—their value nearly doubled, increasing from US$19.4 million to US$38.1 million.

Chicken meat imports increased from 31.9 million to 34.8 million kilograms, and their value grew from US$37.0 million to US$41.6 million.

Imports of other poultry types grew multiple times over. Deliveries of turkey increased from 408,000 to 2.0 million kilograms, while duck shipments rose from 64,000 to 3.1 million kilograms.

Imports of meat offal remained at the previous year's level, totaling 17.7 million kilograms valued at US$17.4 million. Canned meat imports rose from 2.3 million to 2.5 million kilograms, and sausage imports increased from 1.2 million to 1.3 million kilograms. Horsemeat deliveries declined from 216,000 to 89,000 kilograms.
