Uzbekistan Launches 1246 Child Protection Hotline
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's National Agency for Social Protection under the President has launched a hotline at the short number 1246 for reports of violence and abuse against children, the agency's press service said.
Citizens have been urged to call the hotline if they witness physical, psychological or sexual violence against a child, neglect of a child's needs or other forms of abuse.
The 1246 hotline can also be used to report situations that pose a threat to a child's life or health.
The agency said the identity of callers is guaranteed to remain confidential. The call centre is currently operating on a trial basis.
The agency stressed that every child has the right to grow up in a safe and supportive environment and urged citizens to immediately report cases that may threaten a child's life or health.
