Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the V Tashkent International Investment Forum, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Eldor Adilov, met with a delegation from the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) led down by the bank's Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) management group, Seo Jung-hwa.

During the talks, the parties emphasized the strategic nature of their long-term partnership in modernizing the national healthcare system, noting the key role of EDCF programs in updating medical infrastructure and improving the quality of services provided to the population.

Currently, several major investment projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan with the financial participation of the South Korean side. In particular, active construction work continues under a project to create a modern multi-disciplinary medical center for adults, which has a budget of US$124 million.

In parallel, procedures are underway to attract specialized consultants to launch the National Oncology Center, valued at US$127.5 million, and a specialized medical higher education institution, estimated at US$70 million.

Another initiative, valued at US$74 million, is aimed at the large-scale equipping of regional medical institutions with advanced medical equipment.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a bilateral memorandum regulating the provision of post-project support to the National Children's Medical Center through the EDCF.

According to the signed document, KEXIM is allocating grant financing in the amount of US$3 million.

These funds will be utilized within programs for modernizing the engineering infrastructure of the children's center, conducting ongoing repairs of complex medical equipment, and ensuring the long-term and uninterrupted operation of the institution's entire technological complex.

According to the parties' estimates, this agreement will consolidate the achievements made and elevate bilateral cooperation in the medical field to a higher level.
