Uzbekistan industrial output rises 7.9% in Jan–Jul 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Industrial enterprises in Uzbekistan produced goods worth 795.4 trillion soums in January–July 2026, representing a 7.9% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
As of 1 August 2026, there were 63,900 industrial enterprises operating across the republic. Food manufacturing accounted for the largest share with 12,800 enterprises, or 20.1% of the total. Other major sectors included non-metallic mineral products with 9,000 enterprises (14.0%), apparel manufacturing with 6,500 (10.2%), fabricated metal products with 5,200 (8.2%), furniture with 4,400 (6.8%), textiles with 3,900 (6.1%), and rubber and plastic products with 3,000 (4.6%).
By industrial structure, manufacturing generated the highest output at 690.7 trillion soums, or 86.8% of the total, achieving a physical volume index of 109.0%. Mining and quarrying contributed 50.2 trillion soums (6.3%), while electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply accounted for 50.4 trillion soums (6.4%, index 108.1%). Water supply, sewerage, waste collection, and disposal generated 4.1 trillion soums (0.5%, index 108.4%).
Regionally, the Navoi region recorded the highest output at 182.7 trillion soums, followed by Tashkent city with 135.4 trillion soums and the Tashkent region with 124.8 trillion soums. The Jizzakh region registered the highest physical volume index growth at 112.7%, followed by the Samarkand region at 109.7% and the Andijan region at 109.0%. Overall national physical volume index growth reached 107.9%.
Per capita industrial production nationwide reached 20.7 million soums, up from 15.3 million soums in 2025, 11.8 million soums in 2024, 9.5 million soums in 2023, and 8.3 million soums in 2022. Figures above the national average were recorded in the Navoi region (163.8 million soums per capita), Tashkent city (42.4 million soums), and the Tashkent region (39.3 million soums). Per capita growth rates were highest in the Jizzakh region (110.6%), Samarkand region (107.7%), and Andijan region (107.2%), against a national average rate of 106.0%.
In commodity production, large industrial enterprises produced 21.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 368,700 tonnes of crude oil, 3.5 million tonnes of coal, 731,900 tonnes of motor gasoline, 683,400 tonnes of diesel fuel, 12.1 million tonnes of Portland cement, 478,200 tonnes of yarn, and 841,100 tonnes of soft wheat and spelt flour during January–July 2026. Motor gasoline output increased from 672,100 tonnes in the prior-year period, diesel fuel from 673,700 tonnes, and Portland cement from 12.0 million tonnes. Conversely, natural gas extraction declined from 25.4 billion cubic meters, crude oil from 378,800 tonnes, and gas condensate from 667,900 to 567,500 tonnes. Automotive engine production totaled 137,600 units compared to 131,800 units a year earlier.
Within the manufacturing sector, food, beverage, and tobacco product manufacturing held the largest share at 19.1%. Textiles, apparel, leather, and related products accounted for 12.4%, fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, machinery, motor vehicles, and other equipment totaled 15.1%, and chemical products, rubber, and plastic goods represented 6.4%.
Automotive production reached 263,700 passenger cars during the seven-month period, up from 241,100 units a year earlier, alongside 3,200 trucks compared to 2,600 trucks previously. Among passenger car models, Cobalt led with 91,100 units, followed by Damas (47,500), Tracker (25,800), and Onix (20,400). BYD model output rose from 8,600 to 17,800 units, while KIA production increased from 14,400 to 17,100 units. Production of the Chevrolet Damas Move model, launched in April 2026, reached 932 units.
In the power sector, total electricity generation reached 52.5 billion kWh, a 6.4% increase year-on-year. Large enterprises generated 35.3 billion kWh, down from previous levels, while small businesses expanded output to 17.3 billion kWh compared to 12.8 billion kWh a year earlier. Heat energy generation by large enterprises declined by 18.3% to 10.1 thousand Gcal. No gas was produced from underground coal gasification during the reporting period.
In the water supply and waste management sector, wastewater collection and treatment services generated 444.6 billion soums compared to 392.5 billion soums a year earlier, while cesspool and septic tank emptying services reached 241.9 million soums. Textile waste volume increased to 15,600 tonnes from 14,500 tonnes in the previous year.
