Uzbekistan green energy production hits 6 billion kWh

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Electricity generation from solar and wind power plants in Uzbekistan has reached 6 billion kWh since the beginning of 2026. As of 14:00 on 2 July 2026, this figure was 24.3% higher than during the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Energy.

Data from the Ministry of Energy shows that solar photovoltaic stations produced 3.8 billion kWh of electricity since the start of the year, while wind power plants generated 2.2 billion kWh.

The ministry noted that the combined output of solar and wind power plants stood at 5 billion kWh as of 8 June 2026. The figure increased by an additional 1 billion kWh in less than a month.

The use of renewable energy sources since the beginning of the year has saved 1.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas and prevented 3.4 million tons of harmful emissions from entering the atmosphere.

Additionally, from the start of 2026 through 2 July 2026, the country's hydroelectric, solar, and wind power plants collectively generated 10.1 billion kWh of electricity.

The Ministry of Energy estimated that this total generation volume saved 2.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas and prevented the emission of more than 5.7 million tons of harmful substances.

The ministry also stated that the volume of electricity produced since the beginning of the year is equivalent to the average six-month consumption of 8.2 million households, or the annual consumption of 4.1 million households.
