Uzbekistan Greco-Roman Wrestlers Take Third Place at U20 World Championship

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Greco-Roman wrestling team finished third in the team standings at the U20 World Championship in Slovakia after securing two silver medals and one bronze medal.

Dostonbek Oripov won silver in the under-60 kg weight category, while Sokhibzhamol Esbusinova claimed silver in the under-53 kg division. Nilufar Nurmukhammadova earned a bronze medal in the under-50 kg class.

Following the Greco-Roman competition, the Uzbek team scored 95 points to finish third overall in the standings, behind Russia and Iran.

Uzbekistan remains in contention for additional medals in women's and freestyle wrestling. Mukhayyo Narzilloyeva advanced to the final in the under-65 kg division, facing Margarita Salazaryan of Russia. Feruza Kayratdinova will compete for a bronze medal in the under-62 kg weight category against the winner of a match between Türkiye's Ozdenur Ozmez and Yifan Zhu of China.

Three additional representatives from Uzbekistan are scheduled to compete in the preliminary rounds of the freestyle and women's wrestling tournaments.
