Uzbekistan Fruit & Veg Exports Hit $454.5M in Early 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan's fruit and vegetable exports crossed the $454 million mark in just four months, as the country's agricultural trade engine sustains its steady northward climb.

The Central Asian republic shipped 489,500 metric tons of fruit and vegetable produce worth $454.5 million between January and April 2026, the National Committee on Statistics reported. The volume represents a year-on-year increase of 25,900 tons, or 5.6%, compared with the same period in 2025.

Vegetables dominated the export mix, accounting for 239,800 tons — nearly half of all shipments. Fruits and berries followed at 86,600 tons, while the catch-all "other produce" category contributed a substantial 127,600 tons, suggesting a diversified and complex product basket reaching foreign buyers.

Specialty crops rounded out the export ledger: mung beans (mash) recorded shipments of 26,200 tons, peanuts and nuts reached 9,200 tons, and watermelons and melons — still early in their seasonal cycle at this point in the year — accounted for 200 tons.

The 5.6% volume growth, while more modest than the explosive expansion seen in Uzbekistan's raisin and rubber sectors in the same period, reflects the sheer scale of an export base already approaching half a billion dollars in just four months. Fruit and vegetable trade remains one of the most strategically significant pillars of Uzbekistan's agricultural economy, underpinned by the country's fertile river valleys, long growing seasons, and proximity to high-demand markets across Russia, Central Asia, and the Middle East.

Government efforts to expand cold-chain logistics, reduce post-harvest losses, and secure phytosanitary access to new markets — including the European Union and Gulf states — are widely seen as the key variables that will determine how quickly the sector can scale beyond its current trajectory.
