Uzbekistan Foils Illegal Migration Schemes to US and Korea

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's State Security Service has disrupted the activities of individuals suspected of fraud in connection with organising the illegal departure of citizens to South Korea and the United States. Criminal cases have been opened in both incidents, and investigations are ongoing.

According to the State Security Service, the first case involved two residents of Tashkent who gained the trust of several citizens by promising, through their contacts, to obtain G-1 visas, arrange employment in South Korea and later assist them in securing documents for permanent residence in the country.

The suspects demanded US$55,000 for their services. They were detained while receiving an advance payment of US$25,000.

In the second case, a previously convicted resident of Kasansay District in Namangan Region offered to arrange the illegal transfer of a citizen to the United States.

According to the State Security Service, the suspect requested US$50,000, promising to organise a route through Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Spain and Mexico. He was detained while receiving US$20,000 of the agreed amount.

Criminal cases have been opened in both incidents. The investigation is continuing.
