Traffic Scheme Changed at Aktepa Intersection in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Traffic arrangements have been changed at an intersection on the site of the former Aktepa roundabout in Tashkent’s Chilanzar district.

Drivers can now make direct left turns at traffic signals, eliminating the need for additional U-turns. The changes were announced by the capital’s Traffic Management Centre.

Vehicles travelling from Lutfi Street towards Nurafshan and Seoul streets can now turn left directly at the intersection. Previously, drivers had to continue to Mukimi Street and make a U-turn.

A similar option is now available for vehicles travelling from Samarkand Darvoza Street towards Mukimi and Lutfi streets. Previously, drivers also had to travel farther before making a U-turn.

According to the Traffic Management Centre, the previous traffic scheme caused congestion not only in the far-left lane but also in the second and third lanes from the left.

Pedestrian traffic arrangements have also been changed. Ground-level pedestrian crossings and pedestrian traffic lights have been installed near one of the pedestrian overpasses.

A ground-level pedestrian crossing has not yet been established near the second pedestrian overpass.
