Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The National Centre for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a national scientific and practical conference in Tashkent focused on the evolution of statehood, the legal system, and the development of legal science over 35 years of independence, UzDaily.uz reported.

The hybrid offline and online event was organized by the National Centre for Human Rights in partnership with the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the Academy's Coordinating Council for the Development of Legal Sciences. Participants included law professors, researchers, students, law enforcement officials, judicial personnel, non-governmental organization representatives, and journalists.

Akmal Saidov, a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, director of the National Centre for Human Rights, and academician, opened the conference. In his presentation, Saidov highlighted the scientific study of the establishment and modernization of Uzbekistan's legal system, referencing reforms initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Saidov outlined key regulatory acts that shaped legal education and research, including a 2017 presidential decree on postgraduate education, a 2020 decree on legal education reforms, a 2020 Cabinet of Ministers resolution establishing the Institute of State and Law, a 2025 decree on reforming legal education according to international standards, and a 2025 resolution setting priorities for the Academy of Sciences through 2035.

Murodjon Turgunov, director of the Institute of State and Law, moderated the conference. Participants analyzed the achievements and current issues facing legal science while discussing future development trends within the context of building a rule-of-law state in Uzbekistan.
