Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Uzmetkombinat visited Trina Storage’s production facility in Chuzhou, China, on 26 August to examine battery energy storage systems and discuss their potential use at the steelmaker’s production facilities. The visit was organized by All Solar, a distributor of Trinasolar solar modules in Uzbekistan.

During the visit, Uzmetkombinat representatives reviewed the production and integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS). The sides discussed how such solutions could help the company manage electricity consumption more efficiently, reduce peak-hour loads and improve the reliability of its power supply.

Trina Storage specialists presented integrated solutions based on lithium iron phosphate battery cells manufactured by the company. The systems include battery and energy management systems, power conversion equipment, liquid cooling and fire protection systems.

The delegation also examined the Elementa 3 industrial energy storage system, which uses the company’s own 587 Ah battery cells. A single container can store up to 6.25 MWh of electricity.

Elementa 3 is equipped with early fault detection systems, fire-resistant UL 94-5VA-rated battery modules and composite walls designed to contain the spread of fire for up to two hours.

Uzmetkombinat is one of Uzbekistan’s leading ferrous metallurgy enterprises. Located in Bekabad, the company produces rolled steel, steel grinding balls, ferroalloys and other industrial products. The enterprise is continuing to modernize its production facilities, with a focus on energy efficiency, sustainable development and the rational use of resources.

Uzmetkombinat Chairman of the Management Board and CEO Bakhodir Tozhimirzayevich Abdullaev said the company was continuing to examine the use of battery energy storage systems to improve energy management efficiency, operational reliability and reduce its carbon footprint over the long term.

Trinasolar Vice President for the Asia-Pacific region Ku Junghyun said energy storage systems allow energy-intensive enterprises to manage electricity consumption more flexibly and, when combined with renewable energy sources, improve the efficiency and reliability of power supplies.

Following the visit, Uzmetkombinat and Trina Storage agreed to continue discussions on the possible use of energy storage systems at the steelmaker’s production facilities.

The company also said its technologies had received recognition from international analytical agencies. According to Trinasolar, S&P Global Energy included Trinasolar in its Tier 1 lists for photovoltaic module and energy storage system suppliers in 2026. Trina Storage has also retained its Tier 1 energy storage system supplier status from BloombergNEF for ten consecutive quarters, according to the company.

The potential cooperation is being considered in the context of the development of energy storage systems in Uzbekistan. According to the data presented, the country’s total installed energy storage capacity is expected to reach 4.5 GW by 2030.
