US service launches direct transfers to HUMO and UZCARD

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A digital service enabling direct money transfers from the United States to bank cards of Uzbekistan’s national payment systems HUMO and UZCARD has been launched in the United States. The service, introduced ahead of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s state independence, is primarily aimed at Uzbek citizens living and working in the United States, Dunyo news agency reported the launch.

The service operates on uPay.net, a fintech platform created in New York by Uzbek entrepreneurs Khusrav Makhmudov and Akmal Abdullaev. The platform is designed to provide digital services to users who maintain financial and everyday ties with Uzbekistan.

Before the launch of the money transfer function, uPay.net users could remotely pay for mobile communications, internet, utilities and other services in Uzbekistan. The platform now also allows users to send money from the United States directly to HUMO and UZCARD cards.

All transactions are conducted digitally. According to the company, particular attention during the development and launch of the service was paid to compliance with financial regulations in the United States and Uzbekistan, transaction security and user convenience.

The project has established the necessary banking, technological and compliance infrastructure to operate the new service. This enables transactions to be processed in accordance with financial service requirements in both countries.

The project’s initiators are also working with the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York and Uzbek community organizations. These contacts focus on the needs of the Uzbek diaspora in the United States and the further development of digital services.

The launch of transfers from the United States is the first stage of the project. The developers plan to expand the geographical coverage of transfers, add further financial instruments and develop digital services for people from Central Asian countries.
