Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Uztextileprom association is exploring new opportunities to promote products made by Uzbek manufacturers in international markets through retail partnerships, export initiatives and online marketplaces.

Saida Mirhamidova, the association’s deputy chairman for international relations and industry digitalisation, held talks with representatives of organisations from Russia and Belarus, as well as online marketplace Lamoda, to discuss potential areas of cooperation.

During a meeting with MODAM Fashion International, based in St Petersburg, the parties discussed joint projects in the fashion industry and the possibility of allocating retail space to Uzbek manufacturers at the Gulliver shopping and entertainment complex. The initiative is intended to enable domestic brands to offer their products directly to Russian consumers.

The discussions also covered the operation of the Uzbekistan Trade House in Belarus, with a focus on improving its effectiveness. Priorities include attracting new buyers, expanding the promotion of products made by Uzbek factories and increasing the number of export contracts signed.

Another area of cooperation with Lamoda involves developing proprietary brands through Uzbek manufacturing companies. The project envisages bringing in market analysts, designers and pattern makers to develop collections that reflect current consumer demand and target higher added value.

Under this approach, factories would be able to gradually move beyond contract manufacturing towards building their own brands and establishing additional sources of revenue.

The initiatives are aimed at expanding the geographical reach of Uzbekistan’s textile exports, strengthening direct links between manufacturers and consumers, and increasing the value added to textile products.

Following the meetings, the parties agreed to continue negotiations and work out mechanisms for implementing the joint projects.
