Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and India are discussing ways to speed up the opening of Uzbekistan’s market for imports of Indian papayas and pineapples. The talks are being held between Uzbekistan’s Committee for Food Safety and India’s National Plant Protection Organisation.
“The sides are discussing ways to speed up the process of opening the Uzbek market for imports of Indian papayas and pineapples,” the Committee for Food Safety of the Republic of Uzbekistan said.
At the same time, access for Uzbek agricultural products to the Indian market is expanding. Following negotiations, Uzbekistan received phytosanitary clearance to export pomegranates and hot peppers to India.
Thus, phytosanitary cooperation between the two countries is developing in two directions: expanding the range of Uzbek products authorised for the Indian market and continuing work to open the Uzbek market to Indian fruit.
The sides are currently continuing to coordinate the issues necessary to accelerate supplies of papayas and pineapples from India to Uzbekistan.
