Uzbekistan discusses food exports with Oman’s Nesto retail chain

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of Uzbekistan held talks with Sayyid Khaled bin Mahfouz Al Busaidi, a partner and senior executive of the Nesto company in Oman, according to the Dunyo news agency.

During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for supplying Uzbek products to the Omani market through the Nesto retail chain, including logistics arrangements and compliance with quality requirements. The main focus was placed on organizing exports of food products.

The Omani side said it is familiar with the quality of Uzbek products and expressed interest in developing cooperation. At the same time, it was noted that the current situation in the Middle East has caused disruptions in logistics chains.

As one of the factors that could improve trade conditions, participants highlighted the launch of direct flights on the Muscat–Tashkent route scheduled for July this year. According to the Omani side, this will create additional opportunities for imports.

It was also noted that, after stabilization of the situation, supplies could be routed through Iran or Pakistan.

Sayyid Khaled supported the initiative to hold talks with Uzbek exporters before the restoration of stable transport routes. Following the meeting, the sides agreed to organize such contacts involving exporting companies from Uzbekistan.
