Uzbekistan Senate Strengthens Guarantees for Business Freedom

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Senate of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis has approved a law introducing amendments and additions to several legislative acts aimed at strengthening guarantees for freedom of entrepreneurship and improving mechanisms to support businesses.

The legislation expands guarantees for entrepreneurs’ participation in drafting regulatory legal acts and improves mechanisms for state support of businesses. The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan reported this.

The law introduces a new provision into the Law “On Guarantees of Freedom of Entrepreneurial Activity” guaranteeing entrepreneurs’ participation in the drafting of regulatory legal acts.

In particular, draft documents and regulatory impact assessment reports that introduce new obligations, requirements, prohibitions, liability measures or other restrictions for businesses must be discussed directly with entrepreneurs and their associations.

The law also improves the legal framework for providing subsidies to develop green technologies, tourism, education, healthcare and social entrepreneurship.

In addition, it clarifies mechanisms for supporting connections to engineering and utility networks, as well as financing economically and socially significant and innovative projects through state grants.

Senators said the law is aimed at further improving the business environment, expanding guarantees for freedom of entrepreneurial activity and strengthening the legal framework for state support of businesses.

The law was approved by the senators following consideration.
