Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A smuggling attempt involving ammunition has been stopped at the Yallama customs post in the Tashkent Region, according to the regional Customs Department.

During joint operational measures conducted by customs officers and Border Troops of the State Security Service, with the assistance of a service dog named Smoki, inspectors searched a vehicle passing through the checkpoint. Under the driver’s seat, they discovered 35 cartridge cases of 12 mm caliber. The driver had no supporting authorization documents for the items.

In a separate case, another vehicle crossing the same customs post was inspected and found to contain two live cartridges marked “12/70 Azot NRG Auto No. 4 36g.” The ammunition had not been declared orally or included in the passenger customs declaration.

Authorities stated that pre-investigation checks are currently underway in accordance with established procedures.
