Uzbekistan, China Expand Energy Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The 8th meeting of the Energy Subcommittee under the Uzbekistan–China Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee was held in Tashkent, bringing together senior officials and representatives of major energy companies from both countries.

The meeting was co-chaired by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and the head of China’s National Energy Administration, Wang Hongzhi.

Participants noted that bilateral cooperation in the energy sector has reached a high level in recent years, driven by strategic initiatives and agreements achieved at the highest political level.

Joint projects in the oil and gas sector, electricity generation and renewable energy were highlighted as key pillars strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Discussions focused on перспективные areas of cooperation, including hydrocarbon extraction, the construction of underground gas storage facilities and the modernization of trunk gas pipelines.

Particular attention was also given to the development of solar and wind energy projects using advanced Chinese technologies, as well as to the integration of energy systems and the training of qualified personnel.

The sides agreed to continue exchanging experience in the digitalization of energy infrastructure, standardization of industry processes and improvement of energy asset management.

The next meeting of the subcommittee is scheduled to take place in China.
