Uzbekistan and South Korea to Expand Emergency Healthcare Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Otabek Imamov, the First Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, has held a meeting with a delegation from the Institute for Security Policy Studies of the Republic of Korea, alongside representatives from Autech Corporation and Meskorea. The parties discussed the further development of healthcare cooperation, with a particular focus on the modernization of the emergency medical services.
During the negotiations, it was noted that the Republic of Korea has long been a strategic partner for Uzbekistan in modernizing its healthcare system. The participants emphasized the vital role played by projects implemented under the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH), which are aimed at improving the quality of medical services and introducing modern standards.
It was highlighted that cooperation with Autech Corporation and Meskorea opens up new opportunities to expand bilateral interaction. Autech Corporation specializes in supplying advanced ambulances, specialized transport equipped with negative-pressure systems for transporting patients with infectious diseases, and vehicles fitted with ramps for people with disabilities and elderly citizens.
Meskorea manufactures medical training mannequins and simulators, equipment for ambulance services and rescue units, disaster response and mass casualty management systems, medical supplies for military and emergency services, as well as stretchers and rescue kits.
Representatives of the South Korean companies proposed developing cooperation to modernize Uzbekistan's emergency medical services, enhance the quality of ambulance care, train specialists in accordance with international standards, and adopt advanced foreign experience and educational technologies.
Additionally, the meeting participants reviewed the prospects of organizing training and professional development programs for doctors, paramedics, nurses, dispatchers, and technical personnel working within Uzbekistan's emergency medical service system.
Following the conclusion of the talks, the sides reached agreements on the further development of cooperation and the expansion of bilateral interaction in the healthcare sector.
