Nearly 2.5 Kilograms of Smuggled Hashish Seized in Andijan Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement agencies in the Andijan region have dismantled two separate large-scale drug trafficking rings during coordinated operational-search activities. According to the press services of the security agencies, the confiscated illicit substances had been smuggled into the republic from abroad.
The first special operation was conducted in the Asaka district through a joint effort by officers from the regional department of the State Security Service (SSS), internal affairs bodies, and the Customs Committee. During the tactical interception, a Lacetti vehicle was stopped and searched. Inside the cabin, operatives discovered and seized 2 kilograms of hashish from three passengers—residents of the cities of Namangan and Margilan born in 1970, 1981, and 1984. The recovered shipment was documented in accordance with established procedural guidelines.
In a second, independent raid carried out in the Marhamat district, law enforcement officers intercepted a Cobalt vehicle driven by a 41-year-old resident of the city of Kuva (born in 1985). A personal search and inspection of the vehicle yielded an additional 497 grams of the same drug, which was logged into the case files as material evidence.
Following both discoveries, investigative bodies officially initiated criminal cases against all involved individuals. The court granted the prosecution's motion to remand the detainees in custody. Investigative actions are currently ongoing as authorized agencies work to uncover the entire distribution chain and identify the specific organizers of the smuggling routes.
