Uzbekistan and South Korea Hold Consular Consultations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The fourth round of consular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea was held in Tashkent, the Dunyo Information Agency reported, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The delegations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Olimjon Abdullayev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Lim Sang Woo.

During the talks, the sides thoroughly reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the consular sphere, as well as issues of organized labor migration.

Participants paid special attention to protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, strengthening cooperation between competent authorities, and increasing the promptness of providing consular and legal assistance.

Cooperation in mobility and migration was a separate topic of discussion.

The parties reviewed opportunities to improve mechanisms for organized and safe labor mobility, expand legal migration channels, implement joint measures to reduce illegal migration, and ensure proper living conditions and compliance with occupational safety requirements for Uzbek citizens working in the Republic of Korea.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue regular dialogue and practical interaction between the consular services of the two countries, expand the legal framework for cooperation, and step up the holding of such consultations.
