Uzbekistan and Poland discuss interparliamentary and economic cooperation in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Alisher Agzamkhodjaev, held a bilateral meeting with Zbigniew Rau, a member of the Sejm (parliament) of the Republic of Poland, to map out prospective paths for bilateral cooperation.
The primary focus of the diplomatic session was directed toward strengthening interparliamentary ties, intensifying top-level political dialogue, and widening direct engagement across the trade, economic, investment, tourism, and cultural-humanitarian verticals.
During the exchange, Zbigniew Rau—who previously served as the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs—noted that he arrived in Tashkent to participate as a delegate in the inaugural International Forum of Islamic Civilization. He highly praised the organizational caliber of the prestigious event, emphasizing that the strategic panel discussions taking place among lawmakers and international organizations serve as an effective instrument for cementing trust-based cooperation between states.
The two officials exchanged actionable views on the advancement of modern parliamentary diplomacy. They discussed expanding knowledge-sharing frameworks in legislative processes, cultivating deeper ties between regional administrative bodies in both countries, and rendering mutual institutional support within international parliamentary assemblies.
On the commercial agenda, the parties reviewed practical proposals designed to scale up mutual trade volumes, diversify import-export portfolios, and accelerate the execution of joint industrial ventures. Special consideration was given to facilitating regular networking opportunities between Uzbek and Polish business networks, alongside engineering new tourism packages to leverage Uzbekistan's growing popularity as a travel destination.
Concluding the working session, both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to systematically broadening the friendly ties between Uzbekistan and Poland, sustaining a constructive interparliamentary dialogue, and backing future joint initiatives of mutual strategic interest.
