Uzbekistan and Philippines Trade Turnover Rises 135.6%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and the Philippines plan to expand trade and economic cooperation. On 14 August, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Ilzat Kasimov met with Philippine Ambassador to Uzbekistan Roberto Gutierrez Manalo, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan said.

In the first half of 2026, bilateral trade turnover between the two countries reached US$3.3 million, an increase of 135.6% compared with the same period last year.

During the talks, the sides identified several promising areas for cooperation, including agriculture, supplies of mineral fertilizers, information and communication technologies, electrical engineering, transport, geology and the textile industry.

Particular attention was paid to establishing a Joint Economic Commission, holding a business forum in Manila, developing air links, training personnel and cooperation in labour migration.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue practical efforts to increase bilateral trade and implement joint projects.
