Uzbekistan and Pakistan Expand Scientific Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Pakistan have discussed expanding bilateral scientific cooperation during a meeting held on 15 May between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kongiratboy Sharipov and Pakistani scientists Academician Mushtaq Ahmad and Professor Shazia Sultana.

The talks focused on prospects for joint research in biotechnology, biodiversity, ecology, and bioenergy.

Participants emphasized the importance of expanding academic interaction and strengthening scientific ties between research and educational institutions in Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

Academician Mushtaq Ahmad is known as the author of more than 900 scientific publications, including books and monographs dedicated to plant biodiversity, climate change, environmental sustainability, and green energy.

Professor Shazia Sultana specializes in the study of climate-resilient plant resources, has authored more than 400 scientific publications, and is considered among the most cited researchers in her field.

The parties also discussed the organization of joint scientific projects, academic exchange programs between universities in the two countries, international forums, and the establishment of joint laboratories.

Special attention was given to expanding exchanges of professors and researchers.

Minister Kongiratboy Sharipov noted that Uzbekistan is continuing systemic reforms in the fields of science and innovation aimed at strengthening international cooperation, highlighting the importance of scientific diplomacy in relations with Pakistan.
