Uzbekistan and Korea Strengthen Parliamentary Dialogue

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24 April 2026, Chairman of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Ties, Foreign Investments and Tourism Alisher Agzamkhodjaev held talks with a delegation led by Ahn Do-geol, a member of the National Assembly of South Korea.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed prospects for further expanding the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, including economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, as well as deepening interparliamentary ties.

It was noted that a systematic dialogue has been established between the legislative bodies of the two countries at various levels.

In particular, in December last year, Tashkent hosted the third meeting of the speakers of parliaments of Central Asian states and the Republic of Korea, which was recognized as an effective platform for strengthening mutual trust and advancing cooperation. The format was initiated by the Korean side in 2023.

As part of the discussions, the parties put forward a number of initiatives aimed at improving the effectiveness of interparliamentary interaction.

They discussed holding upcoming meetings of friendship groups, strengthening parliamentary oversight over the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, and expanding contacts between профильные комитеты, as well as organizing joint events this year.

Special attention was also paid to prospects for cooperation in the cultural sphere.

The participants highlighted the significant potential for collaboration, including between museums of the two countries, and agreed to facilitate the development of interregional ties.
