Tashkent Authorities Seize More Than 3 Kg of Drugs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Officers from Uzbekistan’s State Security Service and customs authorities have disrupted the distribution of drugs via drop-off points in Tashkent’s Sergeli district and seized more than 3 kg of various substances.
Two people have been detained in the case and placed in pretrial detention. The State Security Service of Uzbekistan said.
The operation was conducted as part of the “Safe and Healthy Country” programme. State Security Service and customs officers, in the presence of witnesses, searched a vehicle and the home of a man born in 1993 who lives in Sergeli district.
The search resulted in the seizure of 1.1 kg of Alpha-PVP, 1.9 kg of marijuana, 65 grams of heroin and 16 grams of 5F-APINACA. Zip bags and electronic scales were also found. Law enforcement authorities said the items were used to package drugs.
During subsequent operations, a woman born in 1988 was detained. She had previously been convicted of a drug-related offence. According to law enforcement authorities, she instructed the detained man to distribute drugs via drop-off points.
A criminal case has been opened against the detainees under Article 273, Part 6, Clause “a” of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Investigative proceedings are underway.
The State Security Service urged citizens to report similar offences by calling the short number 1520. The confidentiality of applicants’ identities is guaranteed.
