Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and Japan have held talks aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in digital technologies and artificial intelligence, with a strong focus on workforce development and IT service exports.
The discussions took place in Japan between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies Rustam Karimjonov and a deputy minister of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
A key priority of the talks was training IT and AI specialists tailored for the Japanese labor market. Both sides also reviewed opportunities for expanding grant programs and increasing exports of IT services from Uzbekistan.
Officials noted that around 30 Japanese IT companies have obtained resident status at IT Park Uzbekistan over the past year and have begun active operations in the country, contributing to deeper technological cooperation.
The dialogue covered several strategic areas of future collaboration, including expanded training programs for IT professionals targeting the Japanese market and the potential establishment of a Uzbekistan–Japan Digital Center.
The parties also discussed the development potential of data centers located in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and their role in supporting regional digital infrastructure.
In addition, an invitation was extended for Takehiko Matsuo to participate in international events including Game Fest 2026, IOI, and ICT Week 2026.
At the conclusion of the talks, both sides confirmed their commitment to strengthening digital partnership aimed at developing human capital, increasing IT service exports, and expanding cooperation in the digital economy between the two countries.
