Uzbekistan and Germany Discuss Pharma Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Talks were held in Tashkent on 13 June 2026 on prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in the pharmaceutical sector.
The meeting involved Director of the Agency for the Development of Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Abdulla Azizov and representatives of the German Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (vfa).
The German delegation included Managing Director of vfa Matthias Mierganth and Angela Margaretha Müllner.
The sides discussed the development of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical industry, expansion of infrastructure for clinical trials, and the introduction of innovative approaches to drug development. Special attention was given to strengthening cooperation between science and education.
Issues related to improving human resources in the sector, supporting modern scientific research, and building an innovation ecosystem aligned with international standards were also considered.
The two sides also discussed prospects for strengthening Uzbekistan’s role as a regional pharmaceutical hub.
In addition, participants exchanged views on Germany’s experience in innovative pharmaceuticals, mechanisms supporting scientific research, and the introduction of advanced solutions into healthcare systems.
At the conclusion of the talks, the parties reached an agreement to further develop cooperation in pharmaceuticals, science, and education, as well as to prepare joint initiatives and continue exchanging experience.
