Uzbekistan and China Sign Human Rights Cooperation MoU

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of human rights was signed on May 14 in Tashkent between the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights and the China Foundation for the Development of Human Rights.

The document was signed by the heads of the two organizations — Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Center, and Li Hunkui, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Foundation for the Development of Human Rights.

The signing ceremony took place within the framework of the “China–Central Asia” Human Rights Development Forum held in Tashkent. The event was organized by the China Foundation for the Development of Human Rights and the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights.

The preamble of the document закрепed the parties’ commitment to strengthening friendly relations, expanding the exchange of experience, and developing cooperation in the field of human rights between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People’s Republic of China.

According to the provisions of the memorandum, cooperation will be based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and mutual interest. The document provides for the development of collaboration in the promotion and protection of human rights, as well as the improvement of humanitarian and expert cooperation mechanisms.

In particular, the parties agreed to conduct joint research on pressing human rights issues, implement educational programs, disseminate specialized knowledge, and exchange information. The agreement also includes the organization of international conferences, academic seminars, round tables, and training events.

Special attention in the memorandum is given to supporting the implementation of international human rights obligations of both states and contributing to the improvement of global governance in this area.

The document also defines practical forms of cooperation, including the exchange of legislative and analytical materials, specialized literature, and experience in implementing international human rights commitments.

In addition, it provides for joint scientific programs and socially significant projects, the organization of visits and internships for staff of relevant institutions, as well as the preparation and publication of joint works.

Following the signing, both sides confirmed their interest in further strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding international partnership in the field of human rights.
