Uzbekistan and Brazil Expand Trade and Economic Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Brazil held talks in Tashkent on 12 May on expanding trade and economic cooperation, industrial collaboration, and launching new joint projects.
The meeting was held between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira.
According to the sides, bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Brazil stood at about US$300 million in 2025. Participants highlighted significant potential for further expansion of cooperation in agriculture, energy, aviation, and pharmaceuticals.
Special attention was given to institutional development of bilateral relations. In particular, the role of the first session of the Intergovernmental Commission and the C5+1 format was emphasized as important mechanisms for deepening economic dialogue and coordinating joint initiatives.
The parties also discussed cooperation within the World Trade Organization. The Brazilian side confirmed its support for Uzbekistan’s efforts to join the WTO, viewing it as a key factor in the country’s further integration into the global trading system.
As part of the visit, the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade organized a B2B business forum with more than 50 entrepreneurs from both countries. During the discussions, business representatives explored promising areas of cooperation, identified potential investment initiatives, and reached preliminary agreements on establishing joint production projects.
Following the talks, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening practical cooperation and developing Uzbekistan–Brazil partnership based on mutual economic interests.
