Uzbekistan and Belarus Establish Strategic Partnership
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership Relations between the two countries following their negotiations.
In the presence of the heads of state, an exchange of a package of bilateral documents aimed at developing cooperation in the trade, economic, social, humanitarian, scientific, and other fields also took place.
The parties signed an Action Plan for the Development of Trade, Economic, Social, and Humanitarian Cooperation for 2026–2030, a consultation program between the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries for 2026–2027, and a protocol introducing amendments and additions to the agreement on mutual travel of citizens dated 19 January 2005.
Furthermore, agreements were concluded on the organized recruitment and employment of citizens of Uzbekistan for temporary work in Belarus and on cooperation in the field of forestry development. Programs of interaction in culture, tourism, the agro-industrial complex, and cooperation between the ministries of emergency situations were also approved.
Separate documents provide for the development of partnerships in light industry, social protection of the population, the financial sector, scientific and technical cooperation, agriculture, and expert-analytical interaction. In particular, memorandums were signed between relevant ministries, academies of sciences, and research institutes of the two nations.
As part of the official visit, a memorandum was also signed between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of Uzbekistan and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research, providing for the development of cooperation in the scientific field.
