Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, met executives of Alibaba Cloud in Shanghai to discuss expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, data centers and the training of information technology specialists.
The talks took place during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC).
Alibaba Cloud representatives presented the company's artificial intelligence strategy and outlined its latest AI models, cloud infrastructure and experience in deploying AI-based solutions. They also highlighted Uzbekistan's strong human capital, the rapid development of its digital market and the country's reforms aimed at building an artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Shermatov said the number of Uzbek companies using Alibaba Cloud's open models and technologies continues to grow. He expressed interest in expanding practical cooperation in artificial intelligence, workforce training and professional development. He also outlined the conditions created in Uzbekistan for the development of data centers, including infrastructure based on renewable energy sources.
The meeting also covered the phased development of the country's AI infrastructure, the deployment of modern platforms for AI models and broader access for local developers and businesses to AI-powered services.
The sides also discussed the potential role of the engineering teams of UZINFOCOM and UNICON-SOFT, including joint training with Alibaba Cloud and the creation of a team of specialists capable of implementing AI-based solutions in healthcare, education and other sectors of the economy.
Following the talks, the parties agreed to explore launching a joint project coordinated by the AI Development Center, establish cooperation between their technical teams and consider presenting the first results of their collaboration at ICT Week Uzbekistan, which will be held in September this year.
They also discussed prospects for deploying AI agents and practical artificial intelligence solutions across various sectors of the economy.
