Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov held a meeting with the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, 20 April 2010.

Welcoming the guest, Putin said: “We are happy to see you in Moscow. Uzbekistan is key country in Central Asia and special relations with Uzbekistan has been built for a long years.”

Russian Prime Minister said: “We achieved good trade turnover, construct relations on key directions. Unfortunately, the trade turnover decreased during economic crisis. But I understand that one of the aim of your visit is to break this negative trend and raise it to pre-crisis figure or event increase it.”

Russia is key partner for Uzbekistan in energy and Russia purchase almost 100% of exported Uzbek gas, Putin said. He added that there are other areas of interest.

Russian official said the sides signed several package of documents and Russia considers this as a good sign, good stimulus for development of joint works.
